A whole new township was developed from scratch near the Bakun Dam site to accommodate the houses, barracks, guest chalets and club house for the current and future owners and administrators.

Works on the township began in May 2003 and in late 2004, the other structures and facilities were completed including a football field.

Landscaping works to enhance the environment began in early 2005. In 2006, a farmer's market, police station and mosque were added, nearby the township community.
