More New School Blocks for SMK Bakun

In February 2010, two new school blocks were recently constructed at SMK Bakun, Sungai Asap in response to the growing number of secondary students. More than 800 students are enrolled, who live in and around the Sg Asap district that has about 15 longhouse settlements.

The first two blocks were completed in 2008. With the addition of the two new blocks, the children have the much needed space for classroom learning and related school activities. Funding for all four blocks was provided by Sime Darby as part of their CSR programme, amounting to more than RM500.000.

Mr. Mujah added: “The added space allows for 12 classrooms in all, a development that is much appreciated by the communities in Sg Asap. Most of the families residing here were originally from the Bakun region, who moved when construction of the Bakun dam began.”
